Classroom Assistant

​

Position Type: Part-Time; Monday-Friday 9am-Noon (Beginning August 2026) Limited part time hours during the summer months- schedule TBD and can be flexible.

 

Position Overview:

Kainos Microschool is looking for a compassionate and reliable Classroom Assistant to support our teachers in delivering a rich, engaging, and individualized educational experience. The Classroom Assistant will work directly with students, helping them in their daily activities, managing classroom materials, and providing additional support for teachers with daily grading of student assignments. This role is perfect for someone who loves working with children of all ages, thrives in a collaborative setting, and wants to make a meaningful impact in a small, innovative school environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist the lead teacher in preparing and organizing classroom materials, resources, and activities

- Grade student work and offer one-on-one support for students as needed

- Support students during lessons, small group activities, and project work, offering guidance and encouragement

- Help maintain a positive and safe classroom environment, ensuring students follow classroom expectations

- Provide individual or small group support to students, reinforcing lessons and helping with assignments

- Assist in tracking student progress and observing student behaviors, communicating observations to the lead teacher

- Facilitate smooth transitions between activities and help with classroom routines

- Support the social and emotional development of students, promoting kindness, respect, and a sense of community

- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities as needed

- Model Kainos' values and character development, encouraging students to develop integrity, kindness, and respect for others

- Assist with technical needs of the school

 

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent 

- Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred

- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students’ growth

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

- Ability to work well as part of a team and follow directions from the lead teacher

- Good communication skills, with an ability to connect with students, parents, and staff

- Willingness to support and promote the mission and values of Kainos Microschool, including Christian principles and character development

 

Desired Skills:

- Experience in a project-based, personalized learning environment is beneficial

- Flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to adapt to the needs of a dynamic classroom

- Basic technology skills, including familiarity with educational tools and software
