The Slime Heard Around Kainos

At the beginning of the semester, our students set their sights on a big goal: raising enough money to purchase a Gaga Ball Pit for recess.

The challenge was simple. Students could bring in spare change and cash to vote for which teacher they wanted to see slimed. What started as a fun fundraiser quickly turned into a school-wide competition.

The jars filled up fast. Rivalries emerged. Alliances were formed. Daily trash talk became part of the routine—especially from students who took great joy in reminding Mrs. Haskins that she was holding a commanding lead.

By the end of the fundraiser, our students had raised nearly $900, enough to make their Gaga Ball Pit dream a reality.

And this week, they got to celebrate their success in the best way possible.

The Gaga Ball Pit was officially earned, and Mrs. Haskins officially got slimed.

The cheers were loud. The smiles were huge. And judging by the excitement on students' faces, the event exceeded every expectation.

More importantly, this fundraiser was about more than a Gaga Ball Pit. It was a reminder of what can happen when students work together toward a common goal. They saw firsthand that their efforts, contributions, and teamwork can create something meaningful for their community.

Of course, if you ask the students, they'll tell you the real victory wasn't the new Gaga Ball Pit.

It was getting to slime Mrs. Haskins.

The Gaga Ball Pit was just a bonus.
